In this episode, Michelle and Margaret talk with certified Coach, inclusion expert, Healer and meditation teacher, and international speaker Barton Cutter about what defines our innate humanity. Growing up with severe Cerebral Palsy, Barton has an important perspective to share as we explore DEI and ways of listening to each other.

Our challenge this week is to slow down and listen from your heart. Notice what happens when you let go of hearing every word spoken.

You can read Barton’s post on the Fundraising Leadership blog.

In this mini-episode, Margaret and David introduce the idea of Positive Intelligence. They start by exploring an insidious saboteur that significantly affects how you live your life, THE JUDGE! This causes us to judge ourselves, others, and circumstances. Instead of judging, positive intelligence invites us to move to blameless discernment.

In upcoming episodes, Margaret and David will introduce us to the accomplice saboteurs.

In this episode, our good friend and colleague from Dartmouth, Kate Norton talks with Janice and David about trailblazing a new path inward.

Kate shares how that journey led her to venture out from her “zones of competence and excellence” into her “zone of genius.”

She describes how that journey can be uncomfortable at times, and how she navigated using her sage powers while quieting the self-limiting voices of her saboteurs.

Finally, Kate issues a challenge to the audience to look at areas of work and life where they are already excellent, and consider some other areas where they want to venture out onto the “skinny branches.”

She also wrote about her journey in this blogpost.

Our free resource this week is to reach out to one of the Fundraising Leadership Coaches after you take Kate’s challenge if you want a complimentary coaching session to distinguish your zone of excellence from your zone of genius.
